The U-Belong Learnership is a highly popular 12-month youth development and employment program in South Africa. Hosted by T3 Telecoms SA (in conjunction with Blu Train and MICT SETA), it focuses heavily on bridging the digital divide, job creation, and entrepreneurship within the informal telecommunications sector.

If you are looking to apply or want to know what to expect for the 2026 intake, here are the key details regarding the program structure, what you receive, and how to apply.

What the Learnership Offers

The program is specifically designed to transition unemployed youth into independent business owners. Over the 12 months, participants receive:

  • A National Qualification: A SETA-accredited NQF Level 1 or Level 2 Certification (typically in Business Practice or IT/Technical Support via MICT SETA).

  • Monthly Stipend: A basic monthly allowance to sustain you while you learn.

  • Tools of the Trade: A smart device and data connectivity to conduct business.

  • Practical Skills: Hands-on experience in customer service, sales, and operations by distributing network starter packs (Vodacom, MTN, Telkom, Cell C) and managing value-added services (airtime, data, prepaid electricity, and gaming vouchers) through the U-Belong mobile app.

  • SME Opportunities: Top-performing learners at the end of the 12 months are given mentorship and resources to launch their own small distribution businesses.

Basic Requirements

To be eligible for the U-Belong program, candidates generally need to meet the following criteria:

  • Be an unemployed South African citizen.

  • Be between 18 and 28 years old.

  • Have a valid South African ID.

  • Possess a Matric certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent (depending on the specific NQF level tier).

  • Have a passion for sales, community engagement, and entrepreneurship.

How to Apply

Applications for U-Belong intakes are managed dynamically online.

1.Visit the Official Portal:Step 1.

Go directly to the official website at u-belong.co.za. Avoid using third-party job boards that ask you to redirect through suspicious links.

2.Navigate to the Agent Form:Step 2.

Click on the “Become an Agent” or “Contact Us” tabs. This will bring up an application form specifically built for aspiring learners.

3.Fill in Your Details:Step 3.

Provide your full name, age, phone number, email address, and the province you currently reside in. (The program operates nationally but rolls out cohorts across target provinces based on regional footprint needs).

4.Await Screening:Step 4.

The recruitment team reviews entries periodically. If you meet the demographic and regional requirements for the current cohort, they will reach out to request your CV, ID, and qualifications.

⚠️ Important Security Warning:

Neither U-Belong, T3 Telecoms, nor its training partners will ever ask you to pay an upfront “application fee,” “registration fee,” or “training fee” to secure a spot or fast-track your learnership. Anyone asking for money is a scammer. Always ensure correspondence comes from an official
